After years of complaints, the McCall City Council has agreed to clean up a section of the downtown Payette Lake shoreline. Probably the last remaining remnants of the Old Mill in town, the section between the Mile High Marina and Brown Park has long been an illegal dumping ground with log jams, old docks and even metal pieces left over from the Boise Cascade Mill that shut down in the late 1970’s. The city has vowed to clean up this stretch of the shorelines and make it a safe and useable public space. The comprehensive plan includes an L-shaped dock creating a protected water area for swimming and launching place for kayaks, paddle boards and other non-motorized water activities. The proposed beach line would include landscaping with trees, grass and a extended path to the current walkway at Browns Park. If the city gets the required funding for the project, they hope to complete the project by 2019.
